Laurie was born on LI in NY. She always liked to draw and also won 3rd place in CT for poetry at 12 years old. She was an editor on the school paper in high school. She spent many years as a district partner and district manager in restaurants to support her family but was able to go back to her love of art in the last couple of years. She has 3 grown children and one grandson. Her work has been sold worldwide. She is also the sister of actor Michael Rosenbaum.
